ANIMATION

Though Illustration is my first love, now and again I will try my hand at animation. Long or short, analogue or digital, I always like to work in a frame-by-frame format.

Have a gander and enjoy a couple of my favourite projects.

Monstrous Monsters

This was my first full-fledged animation project. I worked on it in my 5th semester at the University of Applied Sciences Wismar.

Our animation course (led by animator Robert Loebel) was asked to create trailers for the Bergen International Animation Festival "ReAnima" 2019.

My goal for this was to get as many wonderful creatures doing whatever weird things I could think of that would all smoothly transition into each other.

This was also my first (and probably last) try at producing electronic music.

This was one of three projects used for the festival that year.

Diary

In March 2020 my second animation course started at university - this time the theme was "Diary". Funnily enough, I had never been much of a diary keeper before but I had started a journal when I began studying.

I decided to translate some of the many thoughts and feelings I'd written down over the years into imagery. I hand-drew every frame with coloured pencils for the animation. For the music, I decided to be vulnerable and do something I hate and recorded myself humming one of my favourite songs: "81" by Joanna Newsom.

Birdworld

A simple exercise to get to know Photoshop for animation better,

Gifs for Stories

Some gifs I made for Giphy and Instagram to use as stickers on story posts.
